During the summer, making fires outside of designated fire pits is strictly prohibited to prevent wildfires. However, you are allowed to make fires at the official DANO campsites’ fire pits as long as there is no complete fire ban in place.
When is making a fire allowed?
- Only at designated fire pits: Even during peak season, you are never allowed to start a fire in the forest or at unmarked locations.
- No full fire ban: Always check the current fire ban status before lighting a fire.
How can you check if there is a fire ban?
- Local hotline: Call the Bengtsfors Fire Department (räddningstjänsten) at +46 531-52 61 15. The recorded message is in Swedish.
- Fire risk app: Download the app “Brandrisk ute” from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store.
- DANO website: Check the current fire ban status at dalslandnordmarken.se.
Tip: Even if there is no fire ban, always handle open flames responsibly. Keep sufficient extinguishing materials nearby and ensure the fire is completely out before leaving the area.
